How to Be a Rockstar

How to be a rock star has become a more important goal for several young people, than how to be a great musician. Unfortunately, today’s music industry revolves more on image and attitude, than on music and talent. I am not saying that recently released music shouldn’t be packaged in an enticing manner, but why is it that while I’m listening to most of it, I usually hear what sounds to be too familiar, unprofessional, or indecipherable?

We live in a world where many allow their sense of sight to decide what it is that they like to hear. People often flock to images and personalities that have captured the attention of nations but have short careers, due to their lack of talent to back themselves up with. Many more talented and stronger performers sit in their basements because they don’t project personalities that people will find memorable.

The good news is that there are still those who know how to be a rock star and a musician! Last weekend, I went to a club to hear and watch a band that consists of a former student of mine, and three other performers. Not only did he have a great onstage personality, but he had the voice and guitar playing skills to completely blow people away! A young woman who works in the club commented on how unusual it was for her to appreciate listening to music, rather than noise, as she often does.

The following are suggestions for those interested in how to be a rock star and a musician:

1. Become a musician first. If people perceive you as being talented, instead of just another fashionable person with an image that will disappear in a few months, you will have the credibility to have a career that is sustainable.

2. After you create and record some great music, get familiar with social networks such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.  This will give you the opportunity to begin developing an audience, without having to rely on others to do it for you.

3. Be careful who you trust.  Many people may offer you the world, then forget that you exist. Never sign anything before you have a professional entertainment lawyer confirm that it is safe, legal, and a wise decision.

4. Looks.  The music industry is superficial. It’s superficial because beauty sells.

If you want to be a star, you need to be a moneymaker. So if you need to be stick-thin, do it. If you need braces, get them. If you’ve got flaws, cover them up. If you have excess fat, try New Jersey’s CoolSculpting center.

If you’re over the age of forty, good luck to you– it might be too late to become a rock star already. Youth is the most precious commodity in the entertainment industry. You better either be a young-looking forty or you better be damned good-looking and good at your instrument.

5. Clothes. If you’ve got the body already, find the clothes that you’re most comfortable in, and pick out the styles that you love the most. You should get an idea of your personal style this way, but you need to glam it up for rock stardom. What kinds of clothes do you like looking at? What kind of image do you want to project? Do you like costumes?

Also– don’t dress to copy others; dress for authenticity. You can find 1970s-type ripped-up safety-pinned punk clothing anywhere, but the whole point was to do it yourself and get in touch with your own creativity. Retail punk is oxymoronic.

For those who want to know how to be a rock star, you must be capable of working hard and being patient!

Music Theory Understanding The Circle of Fifths

Music Theory Understanding The Circle of Fifths

Knowing the circle of fifths (and therefore, the circle of fourths) and how it applies to music can be challenging. It’s important to get a visual representation (mainly seen in the kind of a wheel), which you can buy at most music stores.

The best reason is that it makes sense on a lot of levels that are different and thus it is very beneficial to anybody studying music and music theory. Most frequently using a circle to show the relationships of particular important signatures (both minor and major), among the functions of the circle of fifths is a geometrical representation of those relationships.

The key of C (no sharps or flats) is usually placed on peak of the circle and is followed, in sequence and clockwise by the keys of G, D, A, E, B, Gb/FNumber (overlapping at the base of the ring), then D, Ab, Eb, Bb, F, eventually returning to C on peak of the wheel. This arrangement (going clockwise from the top) is dependent on a number of sharps or flats in a particular key. It goes as follows: C (no sharps or flats), G (one sharp), D (2 sharps), A (three sharps) etc.

The group of fifths demonstrates key requirements and the comparative little secret of each key. (About the within the ring, the little keys have been displayed and also, therefore, are indicated as a result.) As an instance, the modest for do is just a little. We understand this because also A slight and also the keys do haven’t any sharps or apartments. As yet another Instance, the secret of E comes with C# small because its comparative small (equally utilize 4 sharps)
